Following his time in upstate New York, it was time to go west.  John drove across the country and found heaven in San Diego.  Romaine lettuce got him to stop, but his first wife got him to stay.  He spent the next years building a career, achieving a business degree, and starting a family with Beverly.  It was not long until they welcomed their son Brett to the family.  While the marriage was not long-term, their open communication and respect continued until death.  Brett has become a kind and considerate man who is dedicated to his work in education and his respect for the legal system of the United States.  He was with John near the end of his life and regularly wrote to John to connect from his home in Santa Monica.
